For the past few months, we’ve been exploring Grey Zones through the lens of the alphabet, letting each letter serve as a starting point for diving into ambiguity, contradiction, and layered meaning. Starting next week, we’ll be shifting focus from letters to numbers.

Each month’s posts will be framed by a theme — Performance, War, Immigration, Incarceration, Pandemics — and explore numerical grey zones. After all, numbers do more than just count. They shape our quantitative understanding of the communities we live in, influence how we perceive time, function as building blocks for physical spaces, obscure the tolls of tragedies, _____________, _______________, _______________.

A number is never just a number, no?

After all, there are SO many ways to approach grey zones. Having a spine — be it with alphabet or numbers — is a strategy that helps guide my creativity.
